H.G. Fenton Earns 19 additional Mark of Excellence Awards from the San Diego County Apartment Association

SAN DIEGO (Dec. 12, 2016) —The San Diego County Apartment Association (SDCAA) honored Carroll Whaler, Executive Vice President of Residential Asset Management for H.G. Fenton Company, with its Industry Achievement Award on Nov. 4 during the association’s annual Mark of Excellence Awards.

Sixteen other H.G. Fenton employees and three of its apartment communities were also recognized for their dedication to resident satisfaction, earning a total of 19 Mark of Excellence Awards plus Whaler’s Industry Achievement Award for the 110-year-old, family-owned San Diego real estate company.

With 30 years of experience in the residential property management industry, Whaler has dedicated the last 15 years to her role with H.G. Fenton where she oversees 14 apartment communities providing over 3,300 homes in San Diego County. Whaler, who served as the SDCAA president in 2013, was recognized for her industry service, her passion for making a difference in people’s lives and for her dedication to creating lifestyle experiences where people live well.

In 1982, when Whaler first entered the property management field, she recalls feeling that “providing a place for people to live was an important social responsibility.” That belief has guided her actions throughout her career. Today, she sees the percentage of people who rent continuing to rise in San Diego and with it a greater responsibility to provide safe and well-maintained living environments, fair and equal treatment to all and, of course, enough housing supply to meet the demands of California’s growing population.

“I am humbled to receive this award from my peers in the industry and am equally proud of the accomplishments of our residential team members who were honored alongside me,” said Whaler.

“Carroll is a model leader and one of the most customer-focused people I have had the privilege of working with. She isn’t just dedicated to serving our residential customers. She sees her teammates, her industry colleagues and her employees as her customers too,” said Mike Neal, CEO of H.G. Fenton. “As a company, we seek to create opportunities for our residents to live well and for our employees to flourish. The Mark of Excellence Awards are an opportunity to see both of those things celebrated, and I am very proud of our team.”

The 2016 Mark of Excellence Awards honored the company across nine categories with multiple awards in several areas.
