The development that has already received a Momentum Award from Circulate San Diego and the Alonzo Award from the Downtown San Diego Partnership was honored again April 18th as the San Diego Business Journal named Little Italy’s Piazza della Famiglia “Best Mixed-Use Project” at the 2019 Commercial Real Estate Awards. The award was received with pride by a team from H.G. Fenton Company which developed the project.
The Piazza della Famiglia, officially dedicated in August of 2018, is a 10,000sf European-style piazza located in the heart of Little Italy. The Piazza anchors the development, which includes 125 apartment homes at Vici Luxury Rentals and Amo Apartments plus 16,000sf of retail space including eateries such as Little Italy Food Hall, Frost Me Café and Bakery, Farmers Table, and Morning Glory. The piazza also hosts two popular weekly farmer’s markets, giving visitors and chefs twice the opportunity to shop local.
“We’re just a few months away from the first anniversary of the dedication of the Piazza so the Commercial Real Estate Award comes at an appropriate time for us to reflect on how our vision for a mixed-use development has come to fruition,” said Fenton CEO Mike Neal. “From our work with the Little Italy Association, to the residents and businesses that have brought the space to life, to our relationships with the community and families that enjoy this walkable project with beautiful views, we’re proud of H.G. Fenton Company’s role in making the Piazza della Famiglia a lifestyle amenity for San Diegans and visitors alike.”
